New Chemnitz branch celebrates topping-out ceremony

wego vti is expanding and optimizing its presence in Saxony: In Chemnitz, a new branch of the national multi-specialist for building materials is being built in the local industrial area on Kalkstraße. The topping-out ceremony was held here recently.

As with previous wego vti construction projects in Erfurt, Oberhausen and Eching, the project developer Fuchs from Berching (Bavaria) is acting as partner and is constructing the new building. It is being built on a site of more than 10,000 m² near the A72 motorway, ensuring maximum accessibility, short distances and maximum efficiency for customers and suppliers.

At the topping-out ceremony, Michael Abersfelder, Managing Director Finance at wego vti, explained: “In Chemnitz, we are not just building warehouses, we are building the future. Digital services such as our online shop, xPress pick-up, delivery notifications and direct WhatsApp communication between customers and our teams ensure that our professionals are supplied faster, more transparently and more smoothly. That means less waiting time and more productivity thanks to more time on site.” The new building comprises around 4,000 m² of warehouse space and a 370 m² office building.

Branch Manager Mirko Habich: “As a combined location for both brands, wego and vti, we offer a comprehensive range with a focus on drywall construction, building components, technical insulation, flooring systems and tools.” The on-site vehicle fleet includes truck-mounted crane and forklift logistics as well as small vans. The spacious drive-in also offers professional customers optimal conditions for collecting goods.
Interior fit-out work is currently underway on the site, with completion planned for the fourth quarter of this year, so that the new branch can start operations at the beginning of 2026 with around 20 employees.
