In June 2022, Wego Systembaustoffe GmbH celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its new branch in the “Waldteich” industrial park in Oberhausen, focusing on drywall construction, flooring/screed, technical insulation, high temperature, fire protection, ETICS, and plaster. In March 2023, the location was officially inaugurated. Customers, industry partners, and employees now enjoy significantly more space and greater functionality and flexibility for delivery and pickup business here.
Wego Managing Directors Alfons Horn and Michael Abersfelder, along with Branch Manager Alexander van Setten, welcomed numerous customers, suppliers, and representatives of the companies and offices involved in the construction to the inauguration ceremony. The site in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region measures a total of approximately 14,000 m², with more than a third of that being pure hall space. The administration and exhibition area covers approximately 650 m², which is about 200 m² more than at the previous Oberhausen location, which had been in operation since 1998. The new branch also handles the sale of the Vti product range with technical insulation for the Rhine-Ruhr region.
The site is conveniently located in close proximity to the A3, A2, and A516 motorways. For Wego’s market presence in the Ruhr area, the new location in the catchment area of the cities of Oberhausen, Duisburg, and Essen plays a very important role. Pickup traffic has increased significantly recently, and the improved motorway connection at the new location will lead to faster processing in the future.
Thanks to the extensive logistics network of Wego branches in North Rhine-Westphalia, customers can be supplied throughout the entire federal state. In addition to the newly added drywall construction division, flooring/screed, technical insulation (Vti), high temperature, fire protection, ETICS, and plaster remain the core product areas in Oberhausen. 35 employees cater to professional customers here. Wego will also continue to provide training in warehousing, logistics, and commercial professions at this location.
The vehicle fleet at the Oberhausen location includes high-cranes up to 34 meters, truck-mounted and underfloor forklifts, tail lifts, and Sprinter vans. In total, nine vehicles plus three trailers are available. Services for professional customers also include a 24-hour pickup container service and a WhatsApp service in ten languages, as well as high-crane logistics and, in the future, charging stations. “Here, customers and employees have the opportunity to charge their electric vehicles at several charging stations on the premises,” explains van Setten. A series of training courses with the industry is also planned, for which dedicated rooms are available at the new location.
